waiting for take out..

   Posted by: paula   in Uncategorized

me at big ben.. :)outside runnymede universitytoday at lunch by the round-a-boutme at work.. i have to take the pics.. everyone is busy!right outsidesome halloween stuff i foundme at big ben.. :)i thought i would take this time to write and fill in some of the blanks. first off i am beat.. i FINALLY went out last night with the crew and it was so much fun.. all the camera peeps were there and the script supervisor Helene, who has become a friend here, hung out pretty late. I am going out with her tonight in London to a birthday party. I have no idea what its going to be like, but i figured it would be an adventure if nothing.   I went into Ealing last night. SO NEAT! a pub called The Lodge i didn’t get much pics from there but it reminded me of a college town..  the beer was good.. scratch that it was amazing! I had been waiting all week for a good cold pint. I had 5 pints and a shot and was good to go. I didnt get wasted.. but had to blow of some steam. The first week of filming is complete. Monday brings the beginning of a long week. Monday and Tuesday are big days on set. I’m looking forward to getting to shoot again.  Last night while out with Anthony and Nicole I told Anthony how great this opportunity is and how much i am loving being here. being on set everyday is like watching a magic show.. :) I love my job.  I am getting the chance to work with the camera crew who worked on a few films that i enjoyed (the Hills have eyes 2, doomsday, the decent, dog soldiers) its amazing being next to people who know what it is they are going for and watching them execute it. Talk about a process.. its hard work getting everything going and moving. there are constant problems, and the fact that Heathrow airport is not to far away, the airplanes are a pain. Some moments in the set are so quiet and intense.. i forget that i am working on a movie. Overall the experience and people have just been amazing. I’m still in shock that i am getting paid to be here and take pictures. Amazing.  Well I just wanted to check in. I picked up some kitty ears and some black lipstick for halloween. its weird that halloween is so non existent here.. but at least i have something for halloween day on set. i get to be a bartender in a scene of the movie.. oh and by the way.. you will be able to see me in the media room and in the book store in the film… then bartending.. hahaha.. im all over. :) its fun being here.. i just go to work, fill in as an extra.. take pictures and hang with incredible people in a amazing location. i will check in again soon, but for now i will leave you with a few pics i have taken.. more to come. I love you guys and miss you. Mom if you read this i love you and miss you, tell papa hi and give ripley athese 3-d glasses made the lights look like hearts hug for me..xxoo

captn’s log

   Posted by: paula   in Uncategorized

just a quick update while i am burning a cd. i made it here safely and am staying in a little b&b. im along some beautiful country side next to the thames and about a 25 minute walk to anything remotely close to something i want to do.. like have a pint.  set is amazing! anthony is kicking ass and i am getting some great shots. im working next to an awesome camera crew and they are the best part of my day. working with sam the dp is amazing! literally its like watching magic happen right in front of you.. brilliant!we have this weekend off so i am planning a trip to the museum to see a francis bacon exhibit. and hopefully finally get a beer. well have to get to set! im off and running today! lots to do to get the first stills out for marketing! more soon.. cheerspb

So I thought I would just do a quick update and check in with you guys. As most of you know I have been waiting to go to London to work. Well that time has come and I will hopefully be on my way on October 3rd! YAY! OK but enough about that and on to this..

In case you have not been here in a while (and if you have bless your black heart) you might have noticed I have changed it up so its a blog.  I decided to do it like this and connect a link so you can read the news and check out pics associated with jobs I post up. Plus, I can keep in contact with you guys while traveling next month and in the future. Look for the new pics and site to be up and running soon.

A few things i want to say about traveling.  PLEASE PAY CLOSE ATTENTION

This may sound harsh but i have to say it..

(we all know how this town is. I hate to say it, but every year something happens and I just don’t have the room in my heart to handle it while away.. with the most respect to everyone here this is just the easiest way for me right now. Thank you for respecting my thoughts on this matter..)1. Living in this little town and knowing way to many people.. while Im away, if you need to get in touch with me please email me. BUT and here comes the disclaimer, by all things under the sun, if someone a. dies, b. is close to dying, c.gets in a wreck then dies. I DON’T WANT TO HEAR ABOUT IT. Now, this is not to be confused with me not caring.. I DO CARE. BUT, I just don’t want the distraction while I am work. Break the bad news to me when I get home. It might sound shitty that I say this but please understand that I am not able to do my job with thoughts of being very far away and not being able to come home in an emergency.

2. Please write me and tell me all your juicy stories that are a GOOD laugh! I am not your shrink while at work. I can’t organize your life from another continent. Again, nothing personal I just want to focus on my job. Leave the DRAMA FOR YOUR MAMA! (I love you guys and if it truly is important don’t hesitate.. just be forewarned) :)

To all of you who have helped me obtain this goal, THANK YOU. I hope this is the chance I need to get back where I need to be. I have had much time to think about which direction I am going while here in Prescott. There is not much to do here but think.. or drink.. and drinking is not the route I am currently taking. I am not at the bar right now, so don’t go there looking.  Or hell go there and tell ‘em I sent cha!  I have some projects in the works and I’m getting excited about the future, when I can tell you more I will :)

I guess this is it until I get to London and check in. I hope  all of you have a great Halloween and I will be thinking of you all and wishing i was playing dress up and hitting all those amazing parties! I can’t wait to see pics of your costumes and hear the stories! Hopefully next year I will be closer to you guys and we will get to party.  So have a spook~tacular time and I’m outta here.

Wishing you unpleasant dreams

Yours Cruely,

PB

**UPDATE** the location changed for filming! i will now be in London starting October 3rd.. until? Well frankly until I decide to come home..

SO here we are, as summer kicks off yet another Fourth of July in the city of the Worlds Oldest Rodeo (literally, this place goes crazy… i think this year marks 120years)

rodeo

even Coca~Cola made a bottle for it!

coca-cola

I can’t help but wonder how long I am going to be living back in the desert. Most of you know by now, I have moved back to my old place in Arizona. Things just got a bit to hairy in LA so I skirted out. It was not an easy decision for me to make to come back here. I made a promise to myself that I would not be like the rest of the people who I used to laugh at when they said “.. I ain’t ever coming back!” .. but eventually it seems we all come back. So, I’m back after almost 4 years. Let me tell you… (cue NIN Everyday is exactly the same track) feel like the movie Groundhog Day doesn’t hold a candle to this place. EVERYTHING IS THE SAME ! I feel like I have never left. I am back bartending (though not making the money I was hoping for)the same people are doing the same stuff. Don’t they get bored of this place? I often wonder how far most of them have been out the state.. country? Anyway, this place is like some sort of weird time warp that sucks you in only to be consumed by sex, drugs …. country music? (please choke me now) Don’t get me wrong.. I do like some old country twang, but the rednecks can get a little scary now and again.

This move does not come with out fortune though. After I thought about it and finally made my decision to leave LA, it was like fate took over. By decision of leaving, it afforded me to land a huge job! By HUGE I mean, getting to:

a. work on a feature film….. IN SCOTLAND **** pinch me am i dreaming?*** and I got my blimp :)

glasgow, scotland

b. the film is based off of one of Clive Barkers short stories in Books of Blood. Can you guess which one?

Books of Blood

c. I’m getting paid! :) FINALLY… for fucks sake! Something I went to school for is actually coming true~ I get to take pictures, travel, finally just do what I love to do. (I am very greatful for the friends I have that have made this possible. With out them.. I’m not sure if this dream would come true like this.)

So are you getting all this.. lets recap: I’m going to Scotland to work on a film with Clive Barkers name attached.. HOLY FUCKING SHIT!!

So being back here in Prescott may seem lame at the moment? BUT.. there are great things around the corner that have the potential to change my life forever. Just the experience alone is all worth it. I’m heading out of here either the 1st or 2nd week of August. And as if that is not enough.. I am working very hard on extending my holiday to travel a bit. I’m hoping to do some photography of my own while abroad. I have make up artists, models waiting in the wings to meet me in London and Dublin. Truly it just blows my mind.

It’s been a real trip being home. You can get a redbull here for 2 bucks, and beers for even cheaper. This whole town lives in the slow lane, there are no advance screenings of films (unless it’s something like Star Wars, and even that is just a midnight screening) and the shopping is horrendous. Still, through all its bad.. there is a light at the end of the tunnel. The light that I am not staying here forever, Scotland’s coming up and I am networking now with people in the PHX area. I also have some mind blowing shoots coming up! Images that you have not seen from me before so look forward to those. Last but not least, I also have to acknowledge the support I have here. Family and friends have been great, and even though Prescott gets on my nerves, I have to admit I don’t exactly hate the idea of being able to go out with great company and not spending a million dollars on drinks, parking and gas. :)

**Side note** New pics up at: www.myspace.com/paulaburrphotography, my Killereye.com is under construction so check it out! Leave comments, I love feedback. Besides they are something new I tried out, so I would love to know what you think. :) Guess that concludes this blog for now. Thanks for reading if you made it this far, I appreciate you taking time to check me out.

Whats better then Prom Night…? Twilight.

   Posted by: paula   in News

So last night I got the chance to hit the red carpet (for my first time) for the premier for Prom Night at the Arclight theater. I covered press for Shocktillyoudrop.com! With Spooky Dan from Bloody-Disgusting flanking my left and Ryan Rotten from Shock on my right.. there was no going wrong! Getting the chance to watch these guys in action was amazing! Totally on point! Having blast the whole time! (thanks guys for having me) I got to shoot and meet the talent and if you click on the link Prom Night/Twilight you can see the footage from the red carpet. Now.. let me say this, I am not a paparazzi by any means, and I never want to be, but shooting like I did last night is not to shabby! I get to be with my boys in their environment while doing my thing for them. It was really a good time.

The night started out kinda slow, but eventually things got rolling and the stars came out: Dylan Walsh (NIP/TUCK) and Dana Davis (Heroes: Season 2) just to name a few, but the highlight for me was getting a chance to meet Kellan Lutz (super sexy character in Twilight) oh and getting to hang with the guys of course.

If you know what I have been reading lately you know that I am all about the Cullen family.

~Here is a sample from book one entitled TWILIGHT ~it’s a trilogy

I’d never given much thouoght to how I would die- though I’d had reason enough in the last few months- but even if I had, I would have not imageined it like this. I stared without breathing across the long room, into the dark eyes of the hunter, he looked pleasantly back at me. Surely it was a good way to die, in the place of someone else, someone I loved. Noble even. That out to count for something. I knew that ifI’d never gone to Forks, I wouldn’t be facing death now. But, terrified as I was, I couldn’t bring myself to regret the decision. When Life offers you a dream so far beyond any of your expectations, it’s not reasonable to grieve when it comes to an end. The hunter smiled in a friendly way as he sauntered forward to kill me.”

by Stephanie Meyer

The book Twilight has brought me back to a place that I loved as a child. I wont go into the story to much, but if you get the chance to read it I suggest it. Its an entertaining page turner that has rekindled my love for reading. And also reminded me how much I love a good vampire romance. And how much I just love vampires in general. Anyway if you check out the link on the side bar, you can see pics of Kellan talking to Ryan and the story he posted for Twilight!

Until then.. go pick up a book and read!

More soon.

I have recently had the opportunity to team up with Tim Sullivan (Detroit Rock City, 2001 Maniacs, Driftwood) and Super Heidi from Pretty-Scary.net to present to you Scary Stud of the year! I got the chance to meet Conner and photograph him for Pretty-Scary. If you check out the link you can see the images and read the story. This was really a great time! More recently though I had the chance to meet up with Tim and Conner again to collaborate and come up with a more modern look at one of my favorite horror films PSYCHO. Only this time, Conner got to play the coveted role of Marion (Janet Leigh) in that unforgettable shower scene! Conner did an amazing job and I will bring you that link as soon as its live. So check out Pretty-Scary and sink your teeth into a scary stud! CHOMP.. CHOMP~lick

UPDATE:

Here is the updated link for Pretty-Scary and the famous shower scene from Hitchcock’s PSYCHO. Enjoy.

Blood, Guts and Rock and Roll

   Posted by: paula   in News

News and Update on life in LA.
Things have been starting to get a bit better. Still looking for that “dream job” but aren’t we all? Since I have been here I have met some interesting people, made new friends and am finally getting the chance to hang out more with friends that I have made in the past. Spooky Dan and Tammy have come over and taken me to obscure locations to do set visits in the middle of the night, and what makes that even better is when we go to places that are haunted! Oh the Horror! It’s great! I love getting to meet new people and spend time in creepy, haunted, dirty old buildings! I mean what more could a horror fan want? I have been doing some shooting for Spooky Dan and with any luck, it might even end up with  his coverage over on Bloody-Disgusting.com. We are also cooking something up for you horror junkies but that is all I am going to say about it for now… meanwhile be sure to check out Spooky Dan over at Bloody-Disgusting.com for new blogs and updates!

Overall, I am very excited to be here. I step outside and feel the buzz of the city and the creativity that is oozing out of the streets is so thick that it sticks to your skin! (Maybe that is the smell a.k.a artistic encouragement to not live on the streets??) Learning to get around has not been to bad, and my phone has navigation, which really helps out! I’m looking forward to working on more photos for you all soon. Things have been kind of slow with the adjustment. For those of you who are models, thanks for sticking by me and being patient it’s all going to pay off!

This blog is up and live now! So be sure to check back for changes and updates to the site! I hope you enjoy what I have in store for you! Contact me if you have any questions:

Thanks so much for your continued support. I am forever grateful!

The Chopping Block

Posted by: paula   in News, The Homefront

Since I have graduated and made the move to LA, things have been a bit difficult. Getting used to the sights, sounds and smells of a new place can sometimes be over whelming. It’s getting better though I have started picking up gigs for the magazine Femme Fatale. Getting to go on set and working has made me realize that this truly is where I want to be. Though I do miss that clean air smell of the mountains and that slow pace (some unwritten code) that everyone lives by in small towns, it’s actually nice to be in an environment that I can just feed off of. Places to eat that are 24 hrs, (and also great food everywhere!) Hanging out with friends on set until the wee hours in the morning, watching people get drenched with a blood cannon. I mean really.. I can’t complain! Eating, living breathing that dream I have in my head and heart. Still not jaded, I will continue to push forward. I know there is much to learn and I am willing to put my neck on the chopping block to take the risk to make it happen. And besides I got pepper spray now for those bums that hassle me, with the lack of parking in my area I have decided to take a stand against the no parking problem and not let it hold me hostage here in my apartment!
