A chance to chat with inspiration

April 13th, 2009

As an inspiring photographer who is constantly on the hunt for provocative marketing techniques and imagery that is banned in the US for being to explicit i discovered a man who is taking publicity to a new level. His work can be seen on billboards from Hollywood to Germany, some of his posters are deemed to graphic for our American tastes but the best thing for me about his work, is the buzz it creates. I’m talking about Tim Palen and his unforgettable imagery for such movies as the Saw campaign, Hostel 1 & 2, High Tension, and the infamous Blood Drive.
Tim is an inspiration for me, being the lover of the horror genre, he creates controversy with his images that constantly is pushing the marketing techniques to grab the viewer take them by the throat and make them gasp for air. I had the opportunity a while ago to chat with him. You can see the article at Bloody-Disgusting.com here:

You can also take a look at some of Tims memorable images here:

It was a pleasure to speak with Tim. He’s such a delight.. I hope some day we can possibly work together. Until then.. I will be diligently working to push my ideas up to his level. If you have the chance check out his recent book entitled GUTS

Cheers Tim! Can’t see what you come up with next!

Last year I had the chance to work with Tim Sullivan, director of 2001 Maniacs, Detriot Rock City to work on something a bit closer to home with one of his lead actors from Driftwood. Conner Ross, Tim and myself got together to recreate the Psycho shower scene and create some images for Driftwood. OhLaLa magazine has put up the interview with Conner Ross! Hope you enjoy!
